Prof. Jean-Marc Kaufman

Prof. Jean-Marc Kaufman is Professor Emeritus of Medicine at Ghent University in Belgium. He chaired the department of Endocrinology (2003-2014) and the Laboratory for Hormonology (1995-2014) at the Ghent University Hospital. He is a collaborator to the WHO Collaborating Center for Public Health Aspects of Musculoskeletal Health and Ageing at the University of Liège. He is a board member of the European Society for Clinical and Economic Aspects of Osteoporosis, Osteoarthritis and Musculoskeletal Diseases (ESCEO) and a member of the IOF Committee of Scientific Advisors (CSA). Dr Kaufman is the recipient of the 2014 ESCEO-IOF Herbert Fleisch Medal and has more than 350 publications in international peer-reviewed journals. His main research interests are in the assessment and action of sex steroids in health and disease, particularly focusing on bone health and ageing in men.
