Prof. René Rizzoli

Prof. René Rizzoli is Emeritus Professor of medicine at the University Hospitals of Geneva, Switzerland and former head of the service of bone diseases. He is an internist and endocrinologist with a subspecialty focus on metabolic bone diseases, osteoporosis and disorders of mineral metabolism. He is the chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board of the European Society for Clinical and Economic Aspects of Osteoporosis and Osteoarthritis (ESCEO), co-chair of the scientific programme committee of the annual WCO IOF-ESCEO congress, and treasurer of IOF. He has been involved in basic and clinical research projects on the regulation of bone growth, the pathophysiology of osteoporosis and disorders of calcium and phosphate homeostasis, and the role of nutrition and medications in the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis.
